Singapore is indeed a great example of the free market: only 60% of it’s GDP is produced by state owned or heavily state subsidized corporations lol. As for privatized healthcare, that’s what most of the third world has. It’s a catastrophe, it doesn’t work. See the Haitian health care system for example lol.

The Damour massacre was a response to the Karantina massacre, which killed over 1500 people.
According to wikipedia, 20 Phalangist militiamen were executed. Just under 600 civilians were also murdered. (I double-checked another source and got the number 582 dead.)
Where did you get this number 40,000? That’s less than the population of Damour, at about 5 thousand people (in 2006).

I believe he was in the “lessor of two evils” camp on that one, given the choices. A lot of people were. I don’t think this means we can conclude that he is “a poor example of anything progressive”.
Besides, Chomsky is just as critical of the Democrats as he is the Republicans. He was very outspoken against many of Clinton’s policies during his administration.

In a less corrupt country with a better service sector, yes, government controlled health care will give you health care at a still more expensive than competitive market, but at a decent price. In America… you can expect you are going to get ass rammed as usual.. there is no such thing as a free lunch.
Of course you won’t here much about the system reliant on people actually taking care of themselves in America, because the government needs you to need them.. and they need your tax money.. more of it.. and if you don’t give it.. that’s okay, they’ll just deflate the fuck out of your currency by printing it out and giving it to Wall Street.. you know, the ones who are lobbying for health care too.. so their pharmaceutical/health insurance stocks can go up?
The ideal health care system would be one that is so affordable that everyone can get health care, not where some guy eats hamburgers all day, gets a heart attack, so they steal it from you.. And the free market system does work.. the best example we have today would be singapore, where 3/4 of the health care privatized and as close to free market as we have in the world today. Albeit still lacking… but the cost is 4-5% of gdp.
It’s not that free market people don’t want everyone to have health care. It’s that we want the prices competitive. Giving everyone health care and then taking all the money in forms of loans and taxes doesn’t reduce the cost.. it simply continues to hide it.. Much like the 60’s politician’s did when they introduced the current shit managed care plan. Keep in mind America had the cheapest most successful plan ever not even 60-70 years ago. We were the best example of affordable health care.

Socialism for the rich. Government always bails out the rich and their corporations. Socialism (not communism) should be for the poor, socialism is democratic, because it is the masses fighting the rich, voting (democratically) for the markets to be for the mom and pop businesses and NOT for the giant corporations. Corporate owned Media has been telling americans that socialism = stalinist dictatorship to prevent people from cooperating and voting for their rights.

1) Free Trade/Market Capitalism or “Globalization”, is a immoral system. The whole idea about money & it’s use must change. Should a person suffer & be denied the things he or she needs because they do not have enough printed pieces of paper ? Under this British Global Free Trade Capitalist system, money is the “God” & those who have it are the Master Class. Those who don’t have money are the peasant blue collar class. This is insanity! The British have bad ideas.
As far as the GM bailout, it wasn’t really the rich getting bailed as much as it was the Union. The entity that has been dragging down GM is now able to remain and continue to drain them. GM is now paying retirees for longer than they actually worked there. Try to make a profit doing that!
The free market is the real world. The only help it needs from government is for government to get out of the way.
